Sister Charlene A. Vega decided to join the SMB class in Daraga, Albay, because it would help them as a couple. She recently ended a job contract when she learned of the opportunity. She knows that the training will give her self-confidence and bring her closer to God. Upon joining the SMB program, she understood that business income must be treated separately from personal expenses. Also, she paid herself a salary from the business’s revenue. Sister Vega’s challenge was finding a consistent supplier of chicken. She discovered that many suppliers sell directly from the farm. Others would offer lower prices because of the competition. When the demand is significant, they are required to provide an official receipt to complete the transactions. Sister Vega and her team brainstormed and developed a solution to sell mixed cuts of chicken. From then on, she and her team worked together to solve problems and overcome obstacles. Through the program, Sister Vega learned how to run a business even without an initial capital investment. She was able to get products without upfront payment and repaying them after making the sales. She also discovered other business opportunities that provided her with daily earnings. She built a strong relationship with returning customers, which helped her expand into other areas accessible for delivery. The SMB taught Sister Vega that it was possible to live without a traditional job, and she no longer had to endure the low minimum wage as an employee. She said, “There’s no limit to what you can earn.” Her goal is to achieve financial freedom and create job opportunities for others. Back to All Stories
